Help with ReBorrow
Choose a topic below to see the steps. ReBorrow keeps your own record of items and money lent or borrowed within your circle. Your friends do not need the app or an account.
Record and find
Record a loan
1. Choose what you are recording. On Home, tap Lend for something you lend or Borrow for something you borrow. On What, choose Item or Money. For an item, choose Saved items when lending or Borrowed before when borrowing, if available, or Add a new item. Add a new item opens the full item editor: enter its name and any optional photo, notes or symbol, then tap Save item. The item is saved immediately and you return to the loan’s next step. For a saved item or money amount, check your selection or currency and tap Continue.
2. Choose the person. On Who, use one option: Type a name, Choose from contacts or Saved friends when people are available to reuse. A name is enough; phone and email are optional under Contact details. Check the selected person, then tap Continue. You do not need to choose a contact after typing a name.
3. Add details if you want. On Details, you can set a return or repayment date, add a personal reminder or write notes. Item details already saved in Add item stay with that item. Some prepared or described drafts also offer optional Item details here. You can leave these blank. Tap Review loan.
4. Save the record. On Review loan, check the item or amount and currency, person and optional details. Tap Change beside a section heading to correct it, then Review loan to return. Tap Save loan to finish. You return to Loans, where the new record appears in the list. Tap that record to open its details.
Starting from a friend, item or prepared draft keeps the known details and may skip completed choices. New people are remembered only when you tap the final Save loan. An item explicitly saved with Save item stays saved even if you later close the loan without saving it. Back and cancelling a picker or the Add item editor keep the loan draft and its previous selection; closing an unsaved loan creates no loan or new person. A prepared item draft that has not been saved separately is saved only with the final loan. People from saved loans appear in Friends while those records remain in your library.
Describe a loan with Pro. On What, choose Describe this loan. Type one clear description, use the keyboard’s dictation, or choose Dictate where supported. Tap Review loan to bring suggested details back to your current loan form. Check the item or amount, person, direction and dates before saving. Nothing is saved or sent by the description alone. If on-device suggestions are unavailable, close this screen and continue with the normal fields; your loan draft stays available.
Recording a loan does not notify your friend or move money.
If saving reports success but the screen cannot refresh, reopen ReBorrow and check Loans before recording it again.
Repeat a loan. Open a fully returned or repaid record in History and choose Lend again or Borrow again when offered. ReBorrow reuses the current item and friend, or the original money amount and currency, and brings over your loan notes for editing. You start on Details to choose new dates or reminders, then Review loan before Save loan. Earlier repayments, return status and plans are not copied; the previous loan stays in History. Cancelling creates no new loan. The action is unavailable if the item is already on loan or was subsequently marked lost or gifted.
Find or import loans
Home’s Money summary shows active money balances directly, separated by currency and by what is owed to you or what you owe. It is a summary of your records, not a payment service or a currency conversion.
Open Loans. Your selected status and result count appear below the search field. Tap the filter icon on the right. Under Loan status, choose Active for open loans, Overdue for open loans with a past return or repayment date, or History for completed loans. Tap a record to open its details.
Use the search field to find an item, friend, contact detail, currency, amount, tag, item note or handover note; letter case and accents do not matter. Clear the search text to see all loans within your selected status and filters.
Filter also offers direction and item/money type. Reset filters returns to Active, both directions and items plus money, while keeping the search text. If a record is missing, check the other statuses and clear the search. On an empty filtered list, Clear search & filters clears the text and restores those default choices together.
Select several loans with Pro. Open ReBorrow Pro → Loan calendar from Home or the Pro tools entry in Settings and use Agenda or Calendar. Selections stay selected when a search or date filter hides them. Check the selected count and how many are not shown by filters before editing or exporting; use Clear selection to remove the whole selection, even when no results are visible.
Import active loans with Pro. Open ReBorrow Pro → Import CSV. On 1. Choose a file, tap Choose CSV. Starting with a spreadsheet? Choose Save CSV template, replace its fictional examples with your active loans and save the finished file as UTF-8 CSV. Use item or money, lent or borrowed, an ISO currency code such as CAD for money, and YYYY-MM-DD dates. Enter exact decimal amounts such as 35.25, without thousands separators.
On 2. Match the columns, choose which spreadsheet column supplies each field. Friend name is required; item loans need an item name, and money loans need an amount and currency. Missing type and direction columns default to item and lent. Tap the Preview button showing the row count, then use 3. Review your loans to check the records and select those to import. Rows with a problem are excluded; correct them in the spreadsheet if needed. Choose Change columns to correct a mapping before saving.
You can preview up to 500 rows and save up to 50 selected valid records at once. Confirm Import records to save them. If a save fails, Retry import retries that same reviewed selection without saving it twice; it does not make every later import of a file a duplicate check. After success, choose View loans or Import another file. Your source file stays unchanged.
Imports create records dated today, without past returns or repayments. Do not remove history or payment columns to make an old record look new. A ReBorrow lending report is not an import file. To recover a complete library, use an encrypted backup and its matching key under iCloud, backups & recovery.
Use saved items
Open Loans → My items. This is the list of physical belongings you own. Borrowed items and money records are in Loans.
Tap Add item to save a belonging without starting a loan. Enter its name, add any optional details and tap Save item. To change it later, open its profile and tap Edit item. The same complete editor opens from Add a new item while recording a loan. Saving there keeps the item even if you later cancel the loan; borrowing saves a separate borrowed item rather than one of your own belongings.
The appearance controls are near the top of Add item and Edit item. Tap the pencil on the preview, then Choose symbol. Choose a symbol or Automatic to replace the draft photo and close the picker. Cancel keeps the current appearance, including any photo. Symbols are optional on Free and Pro.
For an optional item photo, tap the pencil on the preview and choose Take photo on a supported iPhone or iPad, or Choose from Photos. Camera permission is requested only after Take photo. If capture is unavailable or permission is off or restricted, use Photos or continue without a photo; follow the device Settings guidance when offered. A cancelled or failed capture keeps the existing photo. ReBorrow keeps one item photo, removes its original metadata and does not save a captured picture to your Photos library.
To remove a photo, tap the pencil on its preview, choose Remove item photo and confirm Remove photo. Your symbol appears again. Tap Save item to keep appearance changes; cancelling the item editor leaves the saved item unchanged. The same saved appearance is used on the item’s cards and profile.
To lend a saved item, open its profile and use the Lend action. If it is already on loan, open the current loan instead. While recording a loan, choose Saved items when lending or Borrowed before when borrowing. Only suitable items without an active loan are offered. Choose Add a new item for a different item.
With Pro, add Included pieces when creating or editing an item to track its pieces together. Returning pieces from an existing kit remains available if Pro is no longer active.
Group items in a collection. Open ReBorrow Pro → Collections and choose Add collection. Give it a name, choose the saved physical items to include and save. Collections help you find related items; creating, changing or deleting a collection does not change its items’ loans or loan history.
Create and print a QR label with Pro. In Collections, choose Create a QR label, then choose a saved item. ReBorrow creates the label automatically. Choose Print label to use the native print sheet where available, or Save printable label to save a PNG image in Files and print it later. AirPrint needs a compatible printer on the same Wi-Fi network. Print on paper or sticker paper, keep the code’s white border clear and attach the label to the item or its case.
With Pro, use Collections → Scan label to open the item and its loan history in your current library. Pro is required to open a label you already have. On Free, you can still find the item in My items. The QR code contains only a ReBorrow item reference. It is not a public loan, a finder profile or access to someone else’s library, and it contains no borrower details. The printed label also shows the item’s name. If you have no saved items, add one in My items first, then return to create its label.
To see how a kit works first, open Settings → See what Pro includes and choose See a kit example in the Kits & checklists card. The fictional, read-only example shows a camera and case returned while the charger remains on loan. Opening it does not change your library or purchase Pro.
Add or edit a friend
Open Friends → Add friend. Choose Choose from contacts to copy one person from Contacts, or Type a name to enter someone yourself. Phone and email are optional. Tap Save friend.
To correct a saved person, open them in Friends, tap Edit friend, change their details and tap Save friend. A person shown only through earlier loans may offer Save friend first.
Adding someone while recording one loan does not require a separate Save friend: they appear in Friends when you save the loan. In Friends, or in another flow that opens the Add friend editor, Save friend saves a reusable profile independently. That profile remains if you later cancel a loan.
Saving a friend does not send an invitation or message. Changes affect ReBorrow’s saved profile, not the person’s entry in Contacts or earlier loan details. To correct a particular loan, open that loan and tap Edit loan.
Record several items with Pro. Open a friend and choose Lend or borrow several items, or choose Select several items while recording an item loan when that option is available. First Choose items: check Lending or Borrowing and select suitable items. If none are saved, choose Add item to use the complete item editor; an explicitly saved item stays saved even if you later cancel these loans. Search appears only when there are items to search.
Next choose or check the friend, then open Review loans. You can change the items or person and add optional details before choosing Save loans. Each item gets a separate loan. Saving returns to Loans and shows the created records in the normal list; it does not open another saved-summary step. Nothing is sent automatically.
See balances, favourite or combine friends
In Friends, each person’s card shows what remains: items To collect or To return, and money Owed to you or You owe. Open the friend for the full summary and loan history. Each currency is shown separately; ReBorrow does not convert currencies or subtract one person’s borrowed money from money they owe you. A kit counts as one item loan, with its pieces tracked inside that loan.
To keep a saved friend near the top of Friends and saved-friend choices, open their page and tap the star beside their name. Tap it again to remove the favourite. A person shown only through old loans may need Save friend first.
If you saved the same person twice, open one of their saved entries and choose Merge duplicate friend. Choose the other entry to keep, then Review merge. When names, phone numbers or email addresses differ, choose which value the combined profile should use. Check Merged contact, tap Merge friends and confirm.
Both entries’ loans, repayments and saved messages remain in one history in your library. Earlier contact snapshots stay preserved; the merge does not edit your phone’s Contacts. Saved friend profiles are merged only after you review and confirm. A merge cannot be undone in the app, so review the two entries before confirming. Summaries, favourites and duplicate merging are included on Free.
Returns and repayments
Record a return
Open the active loan. Under What came back? or What did you return?, select only the pieces actually returned.
Tap the button showing how many pieces you selected, then Confirm return. The loan stays active while any pieces remain out. When all pieces are returned, the loan moves to History.
Plan a pickup or return. Open an active physical-item loan. Choose Plan collection for an item you lent or Plan return for one you borrowed to open the plan editor directly. Set the optional date or place, then choose Save plan. Your saved plan appears on the loan; tap its row to review packing or edit it. Creating or changing plans requires Pro. On Free, a new-plan action shows PRO before opening the upgrade; existing saved plans remain available to view, stop reminders or delete. Packing or completing a plan does not mark the item returned; confirm the actual return in the loan. Money and closed loans do not offer a new planning action.
Record a payment
Open the money loan and tap Record payment. Enter the amount already repaid, or choose Use full remaining amount. Check the currency and amount, then tap Record payment to save.
A partial payment reduces the balance and keeps the loan open. After saving, Payment recorded confirms the change. Choose Plan remaining payments to open a plan, or keep tracking without one. Paying the full remaining balance closes the loan and clears its reminder.
To open a plan at another time, use More options → Repayment plan in the money loan. The plan shows the remaining balance, what has already been repaid and each planned repayment. With Pro, tap Add planned repayment, enter the amount and planned date, then tap Save. Planned repayments do not record a payment or reduce the balance.
ReBorrow does not send or collect money. Only record a payment you have confirmed elsewhere.
Clear plan in an active loan’s Repayment plan removes planned installments, not recorded repayments. Closed money loans keep their history and any saved plan; they do not show More options or repayment-plan controls.
For future money loans, choose Settings → Language & region → Default lending currency. This changes the starting suggestion, not existing loans. Check the currency on each new loan before saving.
Correct or close a loan
To correct a person, date, reminder or handover note, open the loan and tap Edit loan, then Save changes. Item details are edited from View item profile → Edit item.
Record item condition with Pro. In an item loan, open Item condition → Add observation. Choose Start of loan or Return, add a note or use Choose from Photos, then tap Save. Before saving, you can use Remove photo and confirm to discard a selected picture. You can keep up to six observations per loan. A Return observation does not mark the item returned; record the actual return separately.
Undo a recent change. Open Loan history in the loan. Undo is offered only for its latest eligible change, for less than 24 hours after that change was saved. Tap it to open a confirmation, then review the earlier state that will be restored, including any affected balance, pieces, dates or details. You can add an optional Reason for undo of up to 4,000 characters. Choose Undo change to confirm, or Keep change to leave the record unchanged.
The original change stays in history. Your reason is saved privately with the undo entry, separately from the loan’s notes; neither is sent to your friend. An undo can be applied only once and cannot itself be undone. For a later return or payment, use the normal loan actions. An item already on another active loan cannot be reopened by undo.
If an item became a gift or was lost, use More options → Mark as gift or Mark lost. Review the confirmation before proceeding: these choices close the loan and keep its history.
To close a money loan without another payment, open More options → Cancel debt. Check the person and remaining balance, then choose Cancel debt. The loan moves to History as Cancelled. Recorded repayments and loan history stay saved; no payment is recorded and no message is sent. Choose Keep loan open or close the confirmation to leave the loan unchanged.
Reminders and messages
Set a reminder
For a new loan, on Details, turn on Remind me to follow up and choose the date and time under Remind me. Tap Review loan, check the reminder, then tap Save loan. To adjust it from Review loan, tap Change beside Details before saving.
For an existing active loan, open Edit loan, turn on Personal reminder, choose the Follow up date and time, then tap Save changes. Turn that switch off and save to remove the reminder.
A return or repayment date is optional. Tap its date field, shown as Not set when blank, to open the calendar. Choose a day, then tap Done to update your draft. Cancel leaves the draft unchanged. To remove a chosen date, open the calendar and tap Clear date; it clears the date in your draft and closes the calendar. Save the loan, or tap Save changes when editing, to keep the change. A date alone does not create a notification. A reminder is for you; it does not message your friend.
Set an optional weekly reminder with Pro. Open Settings → Weekly reminder, turn on Remind me once a week, choose the day and time, then tap Save review. To opt out, turn the switch off and save again. The reminder is off until you choose it, uses each device’s local time and runs only while there are active loans.
The notification keeps names and amounts private. Tap it to open Your week ahead: expected returns and repayments for today and the next six days, overdue loans, follow-up reminders and loans with no expected date. The overview uses your current saved records when you open it. It does not send messages to friends. You can also open it from ReBorrow Pro → Weekly review.
To stop a saved weekly review or arrival reminder, open Settings → Existing reminders and choose Stop weekly review or Stop arrival reminder. This keeps the plan and its loans. You can stop an existing automation on Free, including after Pro ends; creating or re-enabling these automations requires Pro. Individual loan reminders are still changed from Edit loan.
Missing reminders
Check the loan first. It must still be active and have a reminder set for a future time. If the reminder has passed, choose a new future time and save.
Check permission. In ReBorrow Settings, tap the reminders row under Data & reminders. It may say Enable reminders, Reminders are off or another current status. The first request asks for permission; later taps open the device’s notification settings.
On iPhone or iPad, you can also open the device’s Settings → Notifications → ReBorrow. Turn on Allow Notifications and the alerts you want. Check Focus and Scheduled Summary if alerts are silenced or delayed.
Return to ReBorrow so it can update its scheduled reminders. Apple controls notification delivery; an alert is not guaranteed at an exact moment. For Watch alerts, check your iPhone’s Watch app notification settings too.
Prepare and send a message
Open an active loan and tap Prepare a message. For an item or money you lent, choose a tone if you want, then edit the wording. For something you borrowed, edit the draft directly. If the keyboard covers the actions, tap Hide keyboard. Your wording stays unchanged and the draft stays open. Changing the tone after editing asks whether to replace your wording. Choose Cancel to keep your text and tone, or Replace draft to use the new wording.
Create a template with Pro. Open ReBorrow Pro → Message templates, add or edit a template and write your message. Under Insert a variable, choose Friend, Items, Due dates or Amount to insert at the cursor or replace selected text. These values fill in when you prepare a message. Choose Save template; no message is sent.
Message about several items. Open the friend in Friends. With Pro, Message about several items appears when you have at least two active physical items lent to that person. Choose the items to include, then Prepare message. Borrowed items, money and completed loans are not included. Review the wording and send it yourself.
With Pro, Use a template offers saved wording when templates are available. If you have edited the text, choosing a different template asks Replace draft? Choose Replace draft to use the new wording, or Cancel to keep your edits. Choosing a template sends nothing.
Use Send message when a phone number is saved and the device supports Messages. Otherwise choose Email, WhatsApp, Messenger & more or Copy message. Check the recipient and send in the chosen app. If a composer is unavailable, use another sharing option or copy the text.
Copy message shows Message copied after copying the current text. Copying or sharing does not mark the message as sent. You still choose the recipient and send it yourself.
With Pro, a saved sent-message copy appears in the related loan’s Loan history, alongside its other changes. Open the loan and scroll to Loan history to see the saved date and text. Use Show more to read more of a long message and Show less to collapse it. Earlier entries may have no saved text; ReBorrow does not recreate it.
The saved copy is the text prepared in ReBorrow. Changes made later in the native composer or another app are not included. ReBorrow does not read the final composer body, your friend’s replies or delivery/read receipts.
A native Messages result can mean queued or sent; a Mail result means queued in the outbox. These results can save a ReBorrow copy with Pro, but they do not prove delivery. Cancelled drafts, a Mail draft saved without sending and failed/error results do not create a sent entry. Messages may use SMS or iMessage; ReBorrow does not choose or verify that transport.
Saved message text and new history details can require a newer library format. Use the updated version of ReBorrow on every device that opens this library or its backups; earlier versions cannot read the newer format safely.
If you already sent the message elsewhere, choose Save sent message. The optional Sent using choice starts at Not specified; choose Messages (SMS/iMessage), Email, WhatsApp, Messenger or Another app only if you want that detail saved. This is your own description, not a connection to or verification by that app. Saved to Loan history confirms that your copy was saved. Copying or opening a share sheet does not create a sent entry. Already-saved entries remain readable on Free.
ReBorrow never sends automatically. Delivery, replies and read receipts belong to the app you use.
Share an item list with Pro. In an active item loan, choose Handover summary. Read the preview, then tap Share summary and choose where to share. The shared text is exactly the preview.
The summary includes recorded item and kit-piece names, lending or borrowing direction and any expected return date. It omits friend names, phone numbers, email, private notes, serials and condition observations. Directions are from the sender’s perspective; the list does not confirm a handover, agreement, delivery or return. Closing it changes no records and sends nothing.
iCloud and backups
Open Settings → iCloud, backups & recovery for the options below. iCloud keeps a synced library; a manual backup is a separate file you save. They are different recovery methods.
Check iCloud sync
Check the iCloud recovery status:
- Saved on this device: your latest local library has not been confirmed in iCloud.
- Syncing with iCloud…: ReBorrow is checking or updating the cloud copy.
- Saved to iCloud: syncing was confirmed. Check Last confirmed for the time.
Tap Sync now to request a sync. This does not guarantee an immediate upload or force one copy to overwrite another.
To use your library on another supported device, use the same Apple Account for iCloud and allow ReBorrow to use iCloud on both devices. Open ReBorrow on each and check its status.
Missing iCloud changes
Keep the device that has your records. Check its internet connection, then open Settings → iCloud, backups & recovery in ReBorrow and read the full status message.
On iPhone or iPad, check the device’s Settings → your name → iCloud → See All and allow ReBorrow to use iCloud. Confirm you are using the same Apple Account on the other device. Check available iCloud storage if the app says it is full.
Return to ReBorrow and tap Sync now. Until the status confirms iCloud, keep your local copy and consider creating a manual backup.
If the message says your Apple Account changed, the iCloud library is missing or recovery needs attention, stop before replacing anything. Do not delete ReBorrow, delete its iCloud data or sign out as a troubleshooting step. Keep a backup and use the contact option at the end of this page if you are unsure how to continue.
Review conflicting copies
ReBorrow has different copies that it cannot safely combine. Syncing pauses so you can decide which library to continue with.
Create a manual backup of your current device library first. Then open Review conflicting copies and compare This device with iCloud copy.
Use the iCloud copy replaces this device’s library with the reviewed cloud copy. Keep this device’s copy selects the local library for syncing. These choices select a whole library; they do not let you combine individual records.
Read the confirmation before choosing. Avoid making more edits on your other devices while deciding. If neither copy contains everything you expect, keep your backup and ask for help before replacing either copy.
Create a backup
1. Save the key. Choose Create backup → View recovery key. Keep the key in a safe place separate from the backup file, such as a password manager. Turn on I saved this key separately.
2. Save the file. Return to Create backup and tap Save backup file. Choose a location and finish saving the file.
You need both the file and its matching key to restore it. The key shown on a different device may not open an older backup. We cannot open an encrypted backup without its key. iCloud recovery does not use this manual-backup key.
Restore a library
Save a new manual backup of your current library first. A restore replaces the whole library; it does not add selected records to what you have.
- Restore backup: enter the key that matches your saved backup, then tap Choose backup file.
- Earlier iCloud copies: choose a previous uploaded copy to preview. Use the original Apple Account; no manual-backup key is needed. Available copies are limited and are not a record of every edit.
- Previous local library: review the latest safety copy saved on this device before a restore. This option is not a general undo history and may have no copy yet.
On Review restore, check the counts and items. Proceed only when it is the copy you want: turn on Replace my current library with this copy, then tap Restore library. If it is the wrong copy, close the preview without tapping Restore library.
ReBorrow saves a local safety copy before replacing the library. The restored library then syncs when iCloud is available; changes on another device may need a conflict review.
Backup file won’t open
Select the original ReBorrow backup file and use the recovery key saved for that specific backup. If the file is stored online, make sure it is available on the device before trying again.
A different key, damaged file or unsupported backup can prevent it from opening. Keep the original file, key and current library. Do not overwrite your only copy or send us the file or key. ReBorrow cannot bypass backup encryption.
Free, Pro and devices
Free plan limits
Free includes five active loan records in total on iPhone and iPad. Lent and borrowed records, for both items and money, share that limit. A kit recorded as one loan counts as one active loan.
Completed loans in History, saved friends and saved items do not use active-loan places. Returning all pieces, fully repaying money or resolving a loan closes it and frees a place.
At the limit, finish an actual return or repayment, or explore Pro for more active loans. You can still correct and finish existing records and use recovery. You do not need to delete your history.
Upgrade or restore Pro
On Free, open Settings → See what Pro includes to read the benefits and local one-time price. With active Pro, Home’s ReBorrow Pro entry opens the included tools; the Pro page shows Pro active. Seeing a benefits page alone does not mean you own Pro.
When purchases are available, tap Upgrade to Pro and review Apple’s purchase confirmation. If Apple’s returned price information conflicts, ReBorrow hides that amount and offers Upgrade with Apple instead. Apple shows the final price and asks you to confirm before purchasing.
Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription. It includes your purchased Pro features and their future updates.
Already own Pro? Choose Restore purchases.
Use the Apple Account used for that purchase. Restoring Pro access does not restore your lending library. Library recovery is under iCloud, backups & recovery.
If the screen says Pro purchases aren’t available yet., this build only previews the upgrade and has no purchase button. Free remains usable on iPhone and iPad. If the App Store product cannot load, check your connection and use Try again when offered.
A pending purchase is not active Pro access. Wait for Apple’s result and check the Pro screen before trying another purchase. If a paid purchase cannot be restored with the correct Apple Account, use the contact details below; do not send payment information.
Devices and Apple Watch
Free includes creating loans on iPhone and iPad. Pro adds new-record creation on Mac and Apple Vision Pro, plus the paired Apple Watch workflows, where those app versions are available. If Pro access ends, your existing records stay available to view, correct, finish, sync and recover; you do not have to pay to recover your library. Check the App Store listing for current device availability. The app requires the relevant platform’s version 26 or later; camera, dictation, messaging and on-device suggestions vary by device and settings.
For lending shortcuts on iPhone or iPad, open Apple’s Shortcuts app. Under App Shortcuts, choose ReBorrow, then an action such as Check a loan. These actions require Pro and may ask you to unlock your device. An action that prepares a loan opens a draft for you to review; it does not save a loan automatically.
The Watch app is a Pro companion to a paired iPhone. It can show a saved summary, but your iPhone must confirm changes. Saved on Watch. Waiting for iPhone to confirm. does not mean the main library has changed yet.
Reconnect the paired devices and open ReBorrow on your iPhone. On Watch, tap the row showing the number of changes waiting for iPhone, then choose Refresh from iPhone. Check the actual loan on iPhone before recording the same action again.
For a failed request, open Changes needing attention on Watch. Review the request and the current loan on iPhone before using Retry original request.
Preparing or sharing a message on Watch does not send it automatically. You choose the recipient and send it in the chosen app.
Use Siri and Shortcuts
Open Settings → Siri & Shortcuts for the voice-entry options and the link to Apple’s Shortcuts app. These lending actions require Pro and may ask you to unlock your device.
For a saved friend: say “Lend money in ReBorrow” or “Borrow money in ReBorrow”. Siri asks for the friend, amount and currency. Save the person in Friends first. You can include a repayment date when setting up the shortcut, or choose it in the draft that opens. These shortcuts work without Apple Intelligence.
To describe what happened: say “Describe a loan in ReBorrow”. When Siri asks, try a clear sentence such as “I lent Alex 50 Canadian dollars until next week”. On supported devices with Apple Intelligence available, ReBorrow prepares suggested details. Check the person, item or amount, currency, direction and date before saving.
Both routes open a draft for you to review. They never transfer money, save a loan automatically or contact your friend. Siri recognition, supported languages, keyboard dictation and on-device suggestions depend on the device and Apple’s settings. If a voice option is unavailable or mishears you, correct the draft or use the ordinary Lend/Borrow form.
App preferences
App animations
In ReBorrow Settings, change App animations. Turning it off keeps the loading logo still and removes ReBorrow’s animated transitions. Turning it on allows those animations again.
Your choice is saved on this device. The device’s Reduce Motion setting always takes priority.
Native tabs, sheets and Liquid Glass effects follow Apple’s system controls. On iPhone or iPad, open the device’s Settings → Accessibility → Motion → Reduce Motion to reduce system movement.
Find items and friends in Spotlight
To find saved items and friends through your device’s system search, turn on Settings → Find in Spotlight in ReBorrow. This is optional, off by default and included on Free. It applies only to this device.
Search can include saved item titles and friend names outside ReBorrow. Contact details, notes, photos and money amounts are excluded. Choose a result to open that item or friend in ReBorrow. No public page or access link is created. Anyone using your unlocked device may see these names and open a result.
Turn off Find in Spotlight to remove those results. Turning on App lock also turns this option off; turning app lock off does not enable search again. Restoring a library turns it off too. Enable it again only if you want the restored names searchable.
Device search updates can take time. If ReBorrow says results could not be removed, earlier results may remain until removal succeeds. Use Try again in Settings. App lock cannot be enabled until that removal is confirmed.
App lock
Turn on Settings → App lock and confirm your identity in Apple’s authentication prompt. This is available on Free and Pro. The choice is saved only on this device; it does not sync or become part of a library backup.
When you return after leaving ReBorrow in the background, tap Unlock ReBorrow. Your device offers its available authentication, such as Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, a passcode or a password. Cancelling leaves the library locked. An unfinished form stays open after a successful unlock, but closing the app process can discard an unsaved draft.
To turn the setting off, unlock the app, switch off App lock in Settings and authenticate again. If authentication is unavailable, check your device’s passcode or password settings. ReBorrow has no separate PIN or recovery code that bypasses device authentication.
App lock covers the app window and its preview while backgrounded. It does not add a new layer of library encryption or lock exported files, widgets, Watch, Siri or notification previews. Manage those separately with your device’s privacy and notification controls.
Still need help?
Email support@reborrow.app with the task you were trying to complete, what you expected and what happened. Include your ReBorrow version, device model, operating system version and the exact error or status message.
A screenshot can help after you hide names, contact details, item details and amounts. Do not send recovery keys, passwords, payment details, backup files or private loan records. For a purchase issue, describe the error without sharing financial information.
During TestFlight testing, you can also send feedback through TestFlight. Use fictional details when showing us how to reproduce a problem.
