What this policy covers
This policy covers the native ReBorrow app for Apple devices, its widgets and paired Apple Watch companion. It also describes support communications and these information pages. A separate ReBorrow web service, if offered, requires its own notice. You do not create a ReBorrow account to use this app.
The records you choose to keep
Your library can contain item names, photos, colours, tags, notes, saved friends and their selected contact details, item and money loans, dates, repayments, reminder preferences, kits, conditions, plans, saved message text and activity, optional self-reported message apps, undo reasons, and loan history. These records are personal notes; the app does not transfer money or contact your friends automatically.
The app stores its library locally. With iCloud enabled and enough storage available, your records sync securely through Apple to your own iCloud account. Up to 5 previous copies can help you recover your library. We can’t see or browse your private records.
Device permissions
- Contacts: you can select a person with Apple’s contact picker or enter details manually. ReBorrow keeps the details you select; it does not upload or index your entire address book.
- Photos and camera: selected photos are used for your item and condition records. Optional camera access lets you photograph items and scan QR item labels. ReBorrow asks for camera permission when you choose the camera action. You can use Photos or manual entry when item capture is unavailable or declined. Selected and captured record photos are resized and redrawn to remove their original metadata; captured pictures are not written to your Photos library.
- Microphone and assisted entry: ReBorrow’s optional Dictate control transcribes on your device where supported and does not retain audio as an app recording. System keyboard dictation and Siri follow Apple’s settings and privacy handling; they are not guaranteed to work offline in every language or device configuration. Available on-device Apple Intelligence can suggest loan details for your review. ReBorrow does not send descriptions to a third-party AI service or save a loan from a suggestion without your confirmation.
- Notifications: follow-up, repayment-plan and review alerts are scheduled through Apple’s notification system. Notification content is generic; it does not include a friend’s phone number or private message draft.
- Location: an optional visit can store the meeting place you choose and ask the system to remind you on arrival. ReBorrow does not keep a travel history. Saved meeting places form part of your private synced library.
You can decline optional permissions and use manual entry. Change permissions in your device’s Settings. Some assisted features depend on hardware, language, region and Apple service availability.
Apple Watch, Siri and widgets
The companion Watch receives a limited snapshot from your paired iPhone and can queue actions for the phone to validate. A pending action is not a confirmed return or repayment. Pro Siri and Shortcuts actions use the saved records you choose; they search your saved friends rather than reading your whole address book. Widgets use a small local copy of your records and hide names by default. Your device’s authentication and notification settings also apply.
Sharing and payments
You decide whether to prepare, edit and send a message or export a report. Messages, Mail and other apps handle delivery and replies under their own policies. Shared files can contain the names, photos and loan details you selected; review them before sending. An item QR code contains only an item reference. The printed label also displays the item name.
When the Pro upgrade is available, Apple handles the purchase and payment details. Apple confirms your purchase to unlock Pro across your supported devices. The app does not receive your card number or process payments between friends.
Optional device search
Find in Spotlight is off by default. If you enable it in Settings, ReBorrow adds saved item titles and friend names to a private search index on this device. Phone numbers, email addresses, notes, photos, money amounts and message text are not indexed. Results open the current item or friend after ReBorrow checks that the record still belongs to your current library. Anyone using your unlocked device may see these names and open a result.
Turning this option off, enabling App lock or restoring a library revokes search permission and asks Apple’s search service to remove the entries. Removal can take time; ReBorrow shows an error and a retry option if it cannot confirm removal. Turning App lock off does not enable search again. This preference is separate from your synced library and exported encrypted backups. ReBorrow also asks the operating system to leave its local search settings out of device backups. ReBorrow does not publish these records to web search.
Recovery and security
Optional App lock asks Apple to authenticate you before reopening the app window after it has been backgrounded. ReBorrow receives an authentication result, not your biometric information, passcode or password. The preference stays on this device and is not synced or included in library backups. App lock covers the app window and its background preview; it does not add library encryption or lock widgets, Watch, Siri, notification previews or exported files. Those remain subject to their own device and sharing settings.
Exported recovery files use strong encryption and a recovery key. The key is kept in the device’s secure key storage and can be saved separately by you. Keep it private; we cannot recover an export without the correct key. Apple protects your iCloud data according to your Apple Account and iCloud settings. Your exported recovery files have their own encryption and key.
Keep your devices and Apple Account secure. Files and messages you send to other apps fall under the recipients’ and providers’ handling.
Support, beta feedback and website requests
If you email support, we receive your email address, your display name when provided, your message and any attachments you choose to send. We keep the information needed to answer your request and investigate problems. Google Workspace provides our support email. Please avoid sending real debts, your full address book, payment details or recovery keys. Apple may provide diagnostics and beta feedback, including device/OS information and screenshots, when you use TestFlight or choose to share diagnostics. We use that information to improve reliability.
These pages use no analytics scripts, advertising cookies or contact form. We save only your chosen website appearance in your browser’s local storage. The website host and email provider necessarily process ordinary requests and security/delivery logs, such as IP addresses, timestamps and message routing details. How long those logs are kept and where they are processed depends on our website host and email provider.
Retention and your choices
You control the records saved in your private library and the backups or messages you export. Historical loan entries can retain earlier contact or item details after a saved profile is changed or removed. An optional undo reason stays with its history entry, separately from the loan’s notes, and is not sent to your friend. Removing the app does not automatically erase private iCloud records, copies on other devices or files you exported. Contact us for guidance on reviewing recovery copies and removing data through your Apple Account and devices.
We keep support emails only as long as needed to respond, maintain necessary support/security records or meet applicable obligations. You may ask us to access, correct or remove the support information we hold, subject to applicable requirements. We cannot directly edit your private iCloud library. Apple’s handling of its services is described in Apple’s privacy policy.
